Danish experts to assist Romanian farmers 
The Romanian farmers can learn a great deal about new technologies from Danish agricultural experts.  

-Agricultural advisory services are as god as unknown to Romanian farmers, says Christian Haldrup, team leader in AgroAdvice, that provides advisory services on crop production in Romania and that has the Knowledge Centre as partner.  

Christian Haldrup participated in an agricultural conference at Bran Castle in Romania in the autumn, where Rumanian farmers had the possibility to acquaint themselves with Danish agricultural technology and methods of financing investments.   
The objective of the conference, where a group of Danish companies met one hundred of the largest Rumanian farming companies, was to ensure a dynamic cooperation between the Rumanian and Danish stakeholders.
A cooperation that is important for the Romanian farmers as they need new knowledge on farming technologies says Christian Haldrup.  
- There has not been much development in the agriculture sector in Romania in the last 20 years. The Universities still use text books etc from the 1980’s. There is a real need for new knowledge on the farm.  

He highlights especially the problems of transferring the latest knowledge from the University level to the farmers.  
-There is a missing link and we are trying, in AgroAdvice, to doing something about that, but it is an immense  task. Romanian farmers do not know the complete advisory concept and are therefore very sceptical as to what they are getting out of a visit by an agricultural advisor, says Christian Haldrup  and he goes on to say:  
-But when we get them out in the field and give them definite suggestions as how to undertake field tasks differently and obtain higher returns we got a more positive response.  

AgroAdvice was established in June 2009 and is the partnership between Agricover SA., Agriculture Management Center, Knowledge Centre for Agriculture and the European Foundation for Agricultural and Rural Development.

The agricultural conference held on 30 September and 1 October 2010  at Bran Castle, Romania was initiated by the Danish Embassy in Bucharest in cooperation with SubstainAgri, a Danish NGO with the objective of supporting sustainable agricultural solutions globally.
