Course Programme
The learning objective of the course is to provide commercial farmers, professionals in advisory-, farmers’- and producers’ organisations and private companies with knowledge and practical examples on how to make food safety and traceability a competitive advantage in the agricultural sector in developing countries.
The main contents will be as follows:
- Introduction to food safety and traceability: Background knowledge and general overview of the topics
- Experience and possibilities in food safety and traceability: Converting theory, tools and methods into practical use
- Sales and market perspectives in food safety and traceability: Converting knowledge into products and improvements
- Quality Assessment Systems (QAS): Introduction to QAS and knowledge of how to establish, manage and operate QAS
Modern adult learning methods will be used in class room discussions. Relevant business cases and field trips to Danish companies and organisations will be used to apply theory and methods to practical examples. During the course, each participant will develop his/hers own action plan on a subject relevant for his/her home organisation.
Course Facilitator
The course will be conducted by the Danish Agricultural Advisory Service, National Centre (DAAS), Aarhus, Denmark.
Course Venue and Date
The course will take place at Bygholm Agricultural College, Horsens, Denmark, from 6-25 June 2010.
Course Fee
The course is fully funded (air travel, accommodation, allowances, study fee, and insurance) by the Danida Fellowship Programme.
Danida Fellowship Centre
The course is developed in cooperation with Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC). DFC manages and administers the Danida supported Fellowship Programme which supplies training, support and capacity development to Danida supported programmes and projects worldwide.
Application
The guidelines as well as the fellowship form are available at the local Danish Embassy, or they can be downloaded from DFC’s website www.dfcentre.dk. The fellowship form is to be filled in by the applicant and endorsed by the Danida programme/project and the Embassy Desk Officer. The Embassy will forward the application forms to DFC. The deadline for submitting applications to the Danish Embassy is 1 April 2010.
