Danida Fellowship Course ”Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Agricultural Industry” 
Aim of the Course
The objective of the course is to provide the participants with information and practical knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovation in the agricultural industry.

The participants will build the capacities needed to develop a business plan and challenge entrepreneurs on their business.

Course Content
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation: Background knowledge, general overview of the topics and introduction to the context of the agricultural industry
  • Innovation and business development
  • Competitiveness, efficiency and market orientation
  • Introduction to Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) in a demand driven market: Introduction to market mechanisms and trade between different sectors in the agricultural industry
  • Market research, business drivers and development: Participants will work extensively with business planning, e.g. a road map to successful implementation of a new business
  • Financing, budgeting and economic development of SMEs a competitive market
  • Development of business networks and cooperation: how to access new knowledge, methods and tools in business development
  • Development of human and organisational capabilities

Learning Methods
Adult learning methods will be used in class room discussions. Relevant business cases and field trips to Danish companies and organisations will be used to apply theory and methods to practical examples. During the course, each participant will develop his/her own business plan on a case relevant for his/her home organisation. The business plan will be the course methodology that combines theory, cases and practical work.

Course Facilitator
The course will be conducted by the Danish Agricultural Advisory Service, National Centre (DAAS), Aarhus, Denmark.

Course Venue and Date
The course will take place at Bygholm Agricultural College, Denmark, from 6-24 September 2010.

Course Fee
The course is fully funded (air travel, accommodation, allowances, study fee, and insurance) by the Danida Supported Fellowship Programme.

Danida Fellowship Centre
The course is developed in cooperation with Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC). DFC manages and administers the Danida supported Fellowship Programme which supplies training, support and capacity development to Danida supported programmes and projects worldwide.

Application
The guidelines as well as the fellowship application form are available at the local Danish Embassy, or they can be downloaded from DFC’s website www.dfcentre.dk. The fellowship form is to be filled in by the applicant and endorsed by the Danida programme/project and the Embassy Desk Officer. The Embassy will forward the application forms to DFC. The application must be submitted to the Danish Embassy before 15 June 2010.
