About International Advice

The Knowledge Centre for Agriculture (formerly Danish Agricultural Advisory Service (DAAS), National Centre) is a non-profit association established in 1972 and has today about 500 employees.

The Knowledge Centre consists of a number of specialised technical departments including crop production, horticulture, organic farming, cattle, sheep and goat production, pig production, poultry production, horse breeding, fur farming, farm planning, farm business management, WEB and IT, education and training, communication and international activities providing services primarily to the local agricultural advisory centres.

International Advice is a strategic unit with international competences within the Knowledge Centre. International Advice is involved in a long list of different international assignments that organisationally can be divided into the following 6 focus areas:

  • Expansion of DAAS share of the international market and competence areas through export of knowledge and technologies
  • Technical assistance for institutions and organisations, for example Ministries, donors, advisory services, NGO’s and agricultural organisations. The projects are typically financed by Danish or international donors. International Advice normally operates in countries where development of the agriculture sector is significantly important and in the national interest. Generally these countries are characterised by the bulk of the population living in rural areas and the national economy being dependent upon agricultural production
  • Developing and coordinating international projects together with partners that give both increased value to DAAS and international opportunities for staff to develop and maintain their competences in the fields of sustainable agriculture. This is both in relation to donor activities and commercial agriculture enterprises, and that develop the international network
  • Advisory services to Danish farmers that establish agricultural enterprises abroad
  • Provide the services of secretary for the association Danish Farmers Abroad. The association has about 75 Danish farmers and companies with agriculture investments or other interests abroad
  • Servicing of international contacts, including contact to the Knowledge Centres international activities, and receiving guests from abroad with the intention of project cooperation and sale of advisory services and products.
